We Get It, Dust Is No Fun And…

It can be downright DANGEROUS!

Living in the Midwest, we all look forward to those warm summer days and long evenings around the campfire but along with summer comes DUST!

As much as dust is a nuisance it also can be:

  • Dangerous on country roads where visibility can be limited from excessive dust causing more accidents

  • Impact our health by creating poor air quality

  • Cover our homes and business in dust creating more work for us to keep them clean

We got you!

Say goodbye to battling the dust on your county roads, driveways, and businesses.

Got dust?

Who ya gonna call?

Dust Busters!

How This Works

  • Step 1: Submit Dust Control Permits

Each county will require a permit to be filed for dust control. Submit your permits to Dust Busters and we will take care of submitting the form to the county!

  • Step 2: Flag It

Flag the area you would like dust control applied. Flagging the area will mark that stretch of road so the county is aware to not blade that section. Failure to do so can result in the county blading your road.

  • Step 3: Schedule It

Decide on how many applications fit your dust control needs. Most people opt for 2-3 applications during the summer depending on how heavily traveled your road is and what level of dust control you want to maintain.

Dust Control Customized For You

  • Magnesium Chloride

-Lighter in color and not as sticky as Lignin. Works well with abundant loose rock on the road surface.

    -Better for highly traveled roads.

-Thrives in the Spring and years with ample precipitation.

-Magnesium Chloride controls dust on gravel roads by attracting moisture from the air to keep the surface damp, even in hot, dry conditions. This moisture film binds fine dust and gravel together, resulting in a hard, low-dust surface.

Not only does this help improve safety for road users and decrease local residents’ exposure to dust particles, but it also reduces maintenance costs associated with gravel replacement and blading requirements. This is a four-pass process per application!

    (400ft Minimum Required)

  • Lignin Sulfonate

-Darker in color, which is a non-toxic, environmentally friendly, non-corrosive, water-soluble product.

-Works well in hard pack, bare road conditions.

It’s a good choice for customers looking for a non-toxic, natural, and environmentally sustainable dust suppression product.

Lignin sulfonate works as a dust suppressant and surface stabilization product on unpaved roads. Its natural adhesive properties bind road particles together.

This is a four-pass process per application!

    (400ft Minimum Required)

  • The Dust Buster

The Dust Buster is a split application.

Using the best of both worlds we combined our two products to meet your needs.

Magnesium Chloride is a product that thrives in the Spring because of the ample moisture.

As the season progresses the loose rock on the surface has usually migrated to the shoulders allowing for the Lignin Sulfonate to be a better second application option.

This is a four-pass process per application!

    (400ft Minium Required)

Who We Are

About 20 yrs. ago Marty Stanbrough had the vision to tackle the dust problem he had in front of his home. Armed with an old grain drill and some muscle Dust Busters Dust Control became a business. For the first few years, Marty applied Calcium Flakes Via the grain drill to country roads for friends and family.

As the business grew a toter tank was incorporated into the business to apply the calcium flakes mixed to a liquid solution. Gary Strief then became a business partner. Together Marty and Gary (Fruity) grew the business as clients saw the benefit of dust control in their area. Calcium flakes were replaced by raw liquid products and lignin sulfonate (tree sap) was introduced to the area.

Last fall Marty & Gary made the tough decision to pass the torch of the business onto a new owner. Reaching retirement age both Marty and Gary knew for the business to continue to grow some young blood was needed to be brought in. November 1st, 2021 Dust Busters Dust Control ownership was handed over to Tony and Holly Osmundson.

The original duo may have found new blood, but their know-how and priceless experience will continue to be a major part of the business growth and application process. Tony and Holly, along with their two children, Loren (age 9) and Katelyn (age 7), will continue to be what has become the premier Dust Control business in the area.

Tony and Holly are also the owners of Osmundson Lawn Care & Landscaping. OLC has been around since 2008. Tony and Holly will use what they have learned from building OLC into a successful business and apply those same concepts as they watch the Dust Busters' trade continue to flourish.

One change to the business will begin with incorporating the technology of today’s world into day-to-day operations. Accessibility and the use of technology birthed a new website for our client's needs. www.dustbustersdustcontrol.com is up and ready for you to submit your request! With our new website, you can now fill out dust control permits online!

GPS tracking and Flow Rate control have also been added to the fleet of trucks to ensure proper rates are applied and accurate placement of material. In the coming seasons, we hope to see more and more customers using the online submission form on the website. This allows for more timely service and helps aid in routing trucks out to your location.

Of course, you can still reach out and receive a paper copy of your county's permit by mail. We will also be using the email information you have provided to alert you of any changes or the approximate start dates of your applications. This will allow you to make sure you are properly flagged and prepped for your application.

In closing, Marty, Gary, Tony, and Holly would like to extend our appreciation to all of you for your past commitment to the Dust Buster trade, and look forward to seeing you all again this season!
